Phinney Design Group is a multi-disciplinary Architecture, Interior Design, Green Building Consulting, and Construction Management Firm with a focus on sustainable and environmentally responsible construction methods. Practicing what we preach, Phinney Design Group is headquartered in a sustainable building located on the corner of Beekman St. and Grand Ave. in the historic Dublin Neighborhood of Saratoga Springs, NY.

Founded in 2002, Phinney Design Group has grown slowly and organically over the past 17 years. As new architects and designers have joined the firm, they bring their own creative talents, knowledge, and inspiration. We believe in an open creative process where the best ideas rise to the surface with an emphasis on collaboration and investigation. We have worked together to develop a portfolio that is about creating architecture that enhances the context and communities where they are located. CURRENT OPENINGS

Interior Designer II

Phinney Design Group is currently seeking an Interior Designer II to be based out of our Saratoga Springs office. This employee is responsible for the development of design solutions, researching and selecting colors/finishes/materials, performing site surveys and maintaining resource materials. This person is nearing completion or has completed NCIDQ certification. This employee will be responsible for interior design on a variety of project types including, but not limited to, commercial, residential, and institutional projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researches interior products, select colors/finishes/materials and applies established interior design standards
  • Develops design solutions for review and performs checking and/or verification tasks
  • Supports business development activities through assistance with aids such as finish boards or PowerPoint presentations
  • Assists architectural staff with client contact and interactions to properly program and select interiors products. Will be required to make presentations to clients for approval of designs
  • Performs site surveys and documentation to establish existing equipment schedules
  • Maintains interior design library and serves as a point of contact for interior product vendors.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years as an Interior Designer I or related experience
  • NCIDQ Certification completed or nearing completion
  • Equivalent of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design
  • Experience working in Revit, 3-D software in producing interior finish drawing packages
  • Computer expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills; detail oriented; highly organized; self-motivated; accurate; works well under pressure

Construction Project Manager

Phinney Design Group is currently seeking a Construction Project Manager to be based out of our Saratoga Springs office. This employee is responsible for the day-to-day administration of a project during the construction phase and represents the owner’s interests on a daily basis. This person has the ability to work on projects of all sizes and complexity and may oversee other construction site representatives. The Construction Project manager will be responsible for oversight on a variety of project types including, but not limited to, commercial, residential, and institutional projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Is involved with pre-construction to develop the schedule, contracts, and perform QC/QA reviews. Takes part in, or solely performs constructability reviews of documents produced by the design team. Assists the design team in reconciling issues both pre-construction and during construction
  • Assists with managing the overall coordination, sequence of work activities and progress of contractor(s), with regards to the plans and specifications of the project. Generates sequencing/phasing strategies for projects, in concert with the design team, for incorporation into the construction documents
  • Assists with contract administration functions including communicating with clients, agencies, contractors, and staff. Serves as client, contractor, and Construction Site Representative liaison
  • Observes work in progress to ensure conformance with documents and examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity. Brings deficiencies to the attention of the Project Architect
  • Schedules and chairs regular on-site project meetings with the Project Team including all prime contractors and prepares a written record of the meeting
  • Performs Pre-inspection of Punch Lists, to advise Project Architect of worthiness of inspection(s).

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6-10 years of progressively complex construction inspection experience
  • Professional Licensure is not required however is desirable
  • Minimum High School Diploma is required. Advanced degree in Construction Management is preferred
  • Computer expertise in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills; detail oriented; highly organized; self-motivated; accurate; works well under pressure
  • Acts as a motivator on site and can effectively multi-task and ensures contractors follow through with their scopes of work.
