Phinney Design Group, a multi-disciplinary Architecture, Interior Design, and Construction Management firm located in Saratoga Springs, is pleased to announce the addition of The Queensbury Hotel to the Historic Hotels of America.   The Historic Hotels of America is an official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, recognizing and celebrating the finest Historic Hotels nationwide.

For the past 90 years, The Queensbury has served as an unofficial centerpiece for the City of Glens Falls, New York.  A destination of its own, The Queensbury Hotel is highly regarded as one of the city’s centerpieces, with its architecture, grand lobby, endless amenities, indoor heated pool, restaurant, lounge, and centralized location on historic City Park.  The owners, working in conjunction with Spruce Hospitality LLC and Phinney Design Group, is working to refresh and restore new life into the historic hotel. The investment being put into the Queensbury will revitalize the hotel and conference centers to provide an up to date aesthetic that harmonizes the hotel’s high standards of guest service and historic character.

The Queensbury’s timely renovations are aligned with the transformation of Downtown Glens Falls.  In 2016, Downtown Glens Falls was awarded $10 million from Governor Andrew M. Cuomo from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.  This money will serve to revitalize the local neighborhood and generate new opportunities for long-term growth and prosperity.

Today, Historic Hotels of America has more than 295 historic hotels. These historic hotels have all faithfully maintained their authenticity, sense of place, and architectural integrity in the United States of America.  Hotels nominated and selected for membership into this prestigious program must be at least 50 years old; designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark or listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places; and recognized as having historic significance.
