Phinney Design Group was hired for architectural and interior design services in the conversion of this 1886 historical carriage house known as “The Whitney Carriage House.” When purchased, the existing building had consisted of three rental apartments. The new owner’s intent was to renovate the building and its interior space into three distinctive condominiums which were to be restored to the original grandeur of the Queen Anne style building. Each unit has been designed to emphasize its character as expressed through unique tile patterns, lighting schemes with custom fixtures, vintage wall coverings, wood and marble flooring materials, detailed hand carved ornamentation, arched ceilings, and moldings. The three spaces are now designed to make use of the new floor plans, finishes, and fixtures throughout to complement the building’s cultured aesthetic.
