Frank-Capelli Residence - Saratoga Springs, NY

Portfolio Main

Located within the city of Saratoga Springs, this barn inspired home integrates modern open floor plan living with a traditional local vernacular. Utilizing a stacking concept for the programmatic layout, this home strives to achieve a minimal footprint on the landscape, while allowing the open interaction between spaces. A central stair threads the vertical connection of spaces on all three levels, culminating in a clerestory which provides an infiltration of natural light to filter through the house, as well as, providing a sensible means to incorporate passive heating and cooling strategies. Driven by the desires of the home owners, Phinney Design Group developed this home as a focus of sustainability and green building strategies. Incorporating various green and sustainable features such as a photovoltaic array, solar hot water, rain water harvesting, drought tolerant landscaping, community resources, and
use of environmentally preferable products, this home is LEED registered and projected to receive a LEED Platinum rating by the United States Green Building Council.
