To act
as a reflection of the firm’s design philosophy and provide an
example of sensibly integrated green building technologies, the
building at the corner of Beekman Street and Grand Avenue has
provided an anchor as the first new construction in the budding
Beekman Street Arts District in Saratoga Springs, NY. Housing
the new offices of Phinney Design Group, a second floor Art
Gallery and a neighborhood pub and restaurant on the first
floor; the building has incorporated many sustainable features
such as the use of many local and regionally manufactured
building products, high-recycled content materials, indigenous
planting materials, low or no VOC finishes, day-lighting
strategies, occupancy sensors, high-efficiency HVAC systems,
high-performance glazing, spray foam insulation, SIP roof
panels, a green roof and a palette of warm, natural building
materials and finishes. The building has quickly become a
signature structure in the historic “Dublin” neighborhood of
Saratoga Springs West Side.
